ALBANY, NY – A new initiative that encourages young women to pursue educational and career opportunities in nanotechnology launched on Thursday.
UAlbany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region, and SEFCU announced the new partnership, which they call the first of its kind.
The program is an intense five year summer camp experience for girls who must be entering 8th grade this year.
The program prepares girls for the next step in their education after high school with introductions to nanoscale science technology, engineering, and math education.
The cost of the five year program is $800,000. SEFCU has committed $340,000 to the initiative.
