Another big bucks boost for the Tech Valley movement. UAlbany gets a big financial boost to educate businesses and students about nanotechnology.
Key Bank is giving 250-thousand dollars to the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering to launch a program aimed at creating a nanotech-savvy business community here in the Capital Region.
Part of the program is aimed at middle and high school students to prepare a workforce ready for the demands of the industry.
"It's so important for those younger people to have those lights turned on and say, 'this is neat, this is cool, maybe I'll pursue some background in science or technology'...so we can have that workforce of the 21st Century," says Edward Cupoli, Ph.D, UAlbany College of Nanoscience.
Programs, including guest speakers and opportunities for students, will begin this year.
