Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C. Adds Four Intellectual Property Law Attorneys

ALBANY, NY-Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of four attorneys to the firm: Dr. Lawrence D. Cutter, a former patent attorney for IBM and General Electric and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Erika Senska who has aMasters of Biotechnology from Columbia University; Dr. Christine A. Ingraham who has a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Neurobiology: and Shanna K. O’Brien who has a B.S. in Biology. The firm has 26 attorneys and patent agents and remains the largest intellectual property law firm in upstate New York.

Dr. Lawrence D. Cutter, a former patent attorney for IBM and General Electric, has more than 25 years experience in patent prosecution and other intellectual property activities in the semiconductor and computer fields. He graduated summa cum laude from Manhattan College with a BSEE degree, was awarded a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a JD degree from Albany Law School. Dr. Cutter taught 17 different courses in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for Union College and served as an Adjunct Professor at Albany Law School for 14 years where he taught a course in Industrial Property and Trade Secrets.

Dr. Cutter is admitted to the New York State Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of N.Y., the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Dr. Cutter is working with the firm’s Computer Science and Electrical Engineering practice group.

Erika Senska received her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, Masters of Biotechnology from Columbia University, and Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin & Marshall College. Mrs. Senska is admitted to the New York State Bar, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mrs. Senska is responsible for handling patent prosecution in the firm’s chemical and pharmaceutical group, and working on chemical cases relating to formulations for gastro-intestinal abnormalities.

Dr. Christine A. Ingraham received an A.B. degree cum laude from Mount Holyoke College, a M.A. from Boston University in Biology, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Neurobiology. She completed post-doctoral studies at UNC-Chapel Hill in biochemistry and neuroscience. Prior to attending law school, Dr. Ingraham was an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at Albany Medical College. Dr. Ingraham graduated from Albany Law School where she was the recipient of the Isabelle Redman Prize and the Jay H. Milstein Award, and served on the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology. Dr. Ingraham is admitted to the New York State Bar. Her practice focuses on patent prosecution in biotechnology and the chemical arts.

Shanna K. O’Brien received her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School and graduated from Union College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. While attending Union College, Ms. O’Brien interned at the New York State Department of Health, Wadsworth Center’s Clinical Mycobacteriology Laboratory. During law school, she gained valuable experience as a law clerk in the intellectual property department at Intermagnetics General Corporation. Ms. O’Brien is admitted to practice in New York State, and is also a member of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association. Ms. O’Brien is working in the firm’s litigation practice.
