Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday applications are open for the fifth
annual New York Business Plan Competition, the largest student
competition of its kind in the northeast.
The final round of
competition will be held April 25 at the College of Nanoscale Science
and Engineering in Albany. More than 500 teams will compete for more
than $500,000 in prizes. Ten regional semifinals send winning teams to
the final round of the statewide competition. The Albany regional
competition, hosted by the nanocollege, University at Albany's School of
Business, Hudson Valley Community College and Skidmore College, is
scheduled for April 3.
Last year's winning team at the statewide
competition presented a business plan for WordsEye, a software system
that creates 3-D scenes from verbal descriptions.
