New Energy New York And UAlbany Nanocollege Announce Second Annual New Energy Symposium

Albany, NY – Building on a successful inaugural event held in June, the New Energy Symposium will be expanded to two days and add a Hydrogen Expo in 2007, according to its organizers, New Energy New York (“NENY”), a consortium of New York-based energy technology companies, and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (“CNSE”) of the University at Albany.
The second annual New Energy Symposium, to be held on July 30 and 31, 2007 at the UAlbany NanoCollege’s Albany NanoTech complex, is designed to showcase the growing importance of alternative energy technologies, as well as New York’s leadership in developing and supporting clean and renewable energy companies.
New to the New Energy Symposium in 2007 will be a Hydrogen Expo, organized in partnership with the National Hydrogen Association and Energetics, which will feature technology demonstrations, student and public educational programs, and career information. The two-day event will also feature speakers and panel discussions on a variety of renewable energy technologies, including fuel cells, photovoltaics, thermoelectrics and ultracapacitors, as well as a trade show and reception.

At the Hydrogen Expo, we hope to build on New York’s strong efforts in developing and supporting alternative energy technologies by demonstrating the positive role hydrogen can play in providing clean and renewable energy.”

The first New Energy Symposium, held June 23, attracted more than 200 executives from a host of energy technology companies across New York State and the Northeast and featured a major policy address by U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer, in which he outlined his “Manhattan Project” for energy, which would devote billions of dollars for new energy research and development, and create a new federal agency, the National Energy Efficiency Development Administration (“NEEDA”), to promote innovation.
About NENY. New Energy New York is a consortium of New York energy-related technology organizations convened to expand and promote energy technology excellence in New York State. Formation of NENY is the direct result of a forum hosted by U.S Senator Charles Schumer in December of 2002 to look at ways the state’s high-tech companies could interact to address energy-related technology issues.
