Currently enrolled graduate and undergraduate students from accredited New York State colleges and universities are invited to submit business plans around a student-born innovation that is designed for a currently unmet need. The top applications will be selected by an external panel of judges to present in the final round of the New York Business Plan Competition and compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes.
Teams must have at least two members, with a maximum of six members (excluding the advisor). Students from different academic areas are encouraged to work together to create the strongest team possible. One faculty member is required to be listed as an advisor for the team; offering guidance, support, and technical expertise.
The competition encourages students to fully engage in their research and allows them to gain valuable experience through presenting their business plan to potential investors and industry executives. The topical areas of submission include:
- Information Technology
- Nanotechnology / High Tech
- Clean Energy / Sustainability
- Social / Non-Profit
Student teams are encouraged to submit applications to present at the 2012 New York State Business Plan Competition. Applications for the 2012 competition are now being accepted and must be received by Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11:59 pm EST. All applications can be sent directly to Mr. Nicholas Querques at firstname.lastname@example.org.
