Albany, NY – Supporting Governor Andrew Cuomo’s leadership in building a world-class nanotechnology industry in New York, and demonstrating widespread interest in being part of the state’s fastest-growing high-tech workforce, more than 750 people participated in the Nano Job Fair held this evening at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) of the University at Albany, an event designed to recruit candidates for more than 300 current and future openings encompassing a variety of exciting career opportunities.
“The Nano Job Fair is welcome news for all job seekers in New York, and further proof that our investments in nanotechnology are stimulating local economies across New York and creating jobs for our families,” Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said. “With more than 300 positions available, the Global 450mm Wafer Consortium of the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering offers many exciting opportunities for professionals of all backgrounds in this fast-growing field.”

Buoyed by a significant outreach effort to encourage women, veterans, and minority candidates to participate, along with CNSE's partnering with the New York State Department of Labor to connect job seekers from across the state with these numerous job opportunities, as directed by Governor Cuomo, the Nano Job Fair gave applicants the opportunity to take part in introductory interviews with representatives of CNSE as they applied for a number of job openings. Included were technical, engineering and infrastructure support positions, such as engineering and process operator positions for CNSE’s Global 450mm Wafer Consortium (G450C), Center for Semiconductor Research (CSR), and U.S. Photovoltaic Manufacturing Consortium (PVMC); facilities operations technicians with skills in HVAC and nanoelectronics tool fit-up and maintenance; and environmental health and safety officers.
Additionally, a number of opportunities were available in administrative, operational and support positions, in areas that include information technology, purchasing, and site services, with roles ranging from security officers to cleaning and maintenance personnel. The exceptional response to both the technical and non-technical career opportunities will lead to a second Nano Job Fair in the coming weeks, so that all New Yorkers who are looking for a job in the cutting-edge nanotechnology industry will get the chance to apply.
Annual salaries range from $35,000 to over $100,000 for the positions, which are funded through the Research Foundation for SUNY (RF), a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the University at Albany.
