Saturday, Nov. 3
CNSE Community Day
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

CNSE Community Day was a chance for people of all ages from the Capital Region and beyond to receive an up-close look at the exciting world of nanotechnology. Attendees experienced hands-on activities, engaging demonstrations, timely presentations, and guided tours of CNSE’s unrivaled Albany NanoTech Complex. Attendees also saw, firsthand, how CNSE and New York State have emerged as the epicenter for the nanotechnology-driven society of the 21st century!

Monday, Nov. 5
Community Lecture Series: Nano & Aging

6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Andres Melendez, CNSE Professor and Associate Head of the Nanobioscience Constellation, discussed the impact of nanotechnology on the aging process, including the development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic technologies to meet the medical demands of our aging population.

Wednesday, Nov. 7
Nano Job Fair
5:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Further expanding its world-class workforce in accordance with Governor Andrew Cuomo’s vision to continue building New York’s globally recognized nanotechnology industry, CNSE held a Nano Job Fair to assist in filling more than 300 current and future openings, supported by a significant outreach to attract qualified women, veterans and minority candidates to apply for positions that include both high-tech and traditional career opportunities.

Thursday, Nov. 8
Capital Region Cancer Research Symposium

8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

CNSE hosted the Capital Region Cancer Research (CRCR) “New Frontiers Symposium 2012: Nanotechnology in Cancer Research and Treatment,” which brought together a diverse group of experts, with the hope of advancing the pace of discoveries related to cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

Nano Discovery Program with Trinity Alliance

10:00 a.m. - noon
15 Trinity Place, Albany

CNSE partnered with Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region to help open the doors to the exciting world of nanotechnology to young people from urban environments who are traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields. This event featured hands-on activities and interactive programs designed to encourage young people to explore the growing number of educational and career opportunities in nanoscale science and engineering.

Monday, November 12
Community Lecture Series: Nano & National Defense
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Michael Fancher, CNSE Vice President for Business Development and Economic Outreach, discussed how nanotechnology is being used to revolutionize military technology in the 21st century, from nano-enabled uniforms to sensor technologies that detect chemical and biological threats, ensuring our soldiers are the best equipped and protected in the world.

ASML 2012 Technology Symposium
Noon - 6:30 p.m.

CNSE and ASML partnered to host the “ASML 2012 Technology Symposium,” which focused on lithography solutions to extend Moore’s Law beyond 20nm.

Schenectady Torch Club Tour
10:00 - noon

CNSE hosted a tour of its Albany NanoTech Complex for members of the Schenectady Torch Club, a group dedicated to promoting free interchange on intellectual and cultural subjects.

Exceeding Expectations: Cleantech Entrepreneur Roundtable

3:00 - 7:30 p.m.

CNSE’s Energy and Environmental Technology Applications Center (E2TAC) hosted a panel discussion featuring a mix of investors and successful entrepreneurs talking about the opportunities and challenges within New York’s cleantech sector. This event and a concluding reception was free and open to the public.

The Smart Phone Revolution & 2012 NanoText Competition

Noon - 2:00 p.m.

From iPhone 5 to Android to Galaxy, the rise of smartphones is a prime illustration of the power of nanotechnology to enable a technological revolution. Dr. Vincent LaBella, CNSE Associate Professor of Nanoscience, explained how the nanoelectronics industry is driving this transformation, tracing progress to date and promise for the future, and conducting the Capital Region’s first-ever speed-texting competition. Used cell phones were collected for re-use with Equinox’s Domestic Violence Program.

Community Lecture Series: Global 450mm Consortium

6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Paul Farrar, Jr., General Manager of the Global 450mm Consortium (G450C) headquartered at CNSE, and CNSE Vice President for Manufacturing Innovation, discussed the progress and impact of the G450C and its significant potential benefits to New York State and the nanoelectronics industry.

Community Lecture Series: Dr. Alain Kaloyeros
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

CNSE Senior VP & CEO Dr. Alain Kaloyeros discussed the emergence of nanotechnology, its growing impact on all facets of society, and the growing global leadership of CNSE and New York State in the science that is “leading to the next Industrial Revolution.”
