Syracuse Post-Standard: 'Breaking Bad' actor, others scout Syracuse film locations in anticipation of new film hub
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Film executives, including 'Breaking Bad' actor Giancarlo Esposito, are starting to scout locations in Central New York after the announcement earlier this year of the new film technology hub to be built in DeWitt.
Eric Vinal, who works for Onondaga County's economic development office, posted a picture of himself on Instagram earlier this month with Esposito, who played the character Gustavo Fring in 'Breaking Bad' and stars in the television series 'Revolution.'
Esposito has a film company called Quiet Hand Productions.
Ben Dublin, chief of staff for Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney, said Esposito was open about his visit, but there have been other scouts who do not want the publicity yet.
Dublin said visitors have had positive reactions to the Syracuse University campus and some of the Syracuse architecture they say could be made to look like it is in New York City.
Mahoney and Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced in March the building of the Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries, the country's first film school focused on nanotechnology.
