WUTR: Nano Utica Job Fair Attracts Thousands
Thousands came out Tuesday to the Nano Utica Job Fair. The hopeful job-seekers came to try and secure one of the first 300 positions available in the new Quad-C facility. There was lots of excitement not just amongst prospective employees but amongst those in the community who have been at the forefront of the Nano Utica project since day one. They say today is a milestone in the process.
"It's emotional in regards to everything we've been building upon, everything we've been working for, striving for, is taking shape,” says Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente.
On Tuesday, that shape was a job fair. Doors opened at noon and in they came, close to 2,000 prospective employees hopeful to secure a position in the new Quad-C facility.
"We expect to immediately hire within the next month or two about 300 individuals,” said Peter Rivera, Commissioner of Labor for New York State. “We expect to hire 15 hundred individuals altogether between now and the next fourteen months.”
