The Post-Standard: SUNY merges Albany's Nanoscale college and Utica's Institute of Technology
UTICA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany and the SUNY Institute of Technology in Utica are merging.
The SUNY Board of Trustees approved the merger Wednesday.
Dr. Alain E. Kaloyeros, presently the CEO of the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), will lead the new institution.
The merged institute will have principal physical locations in Albany and Utica/Rome, with additional university-industry partnerships across the state.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently announced the state will invest $15 million in a Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries in Dewitt. In his recent budget, Cuomo proposed spending $180 million for nanotechnology improvements in Utica.
