Chip makers flock to region, attracted by CNSE, subsidies
The newest corporate partners of SUNY's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering are also the largest in the semiconductor industry.
Intel Corp., Samsung and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. are ranked one, two and three in the most recent IC Insights list of industry sales leaders, with combined semiconductor sales of $98 billion last year.
And all of them have joined CNSE's Albany-based Global 450 Consortium to develop ways to manufacture the next generation of microprocessors.
Before, New York's Capital Region wasn't really on their maps. Now it's at the center of their collective universe.
