Times Union: Israeli researchers, families welcomed at NanoCollege

Over the next five years, hundreds of Israeli scientists and their families will be moving to the Capital Region for short-term assignments at the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany as part of a $3 billion research partnership between the school and Israel.

Although they will be able to find their way around the computer chip manufacturing clean rooms at the NanoCollege, feeling at home outside of work will be a bigger challenge.

Because of that, local Jewish leaders and the college have forged an unlikely partnership that will likely not only pay cultural dividends — but also economic dividends as well.
