The Business Review: NanoFab building in Albany named one of the best for 2013

One of the best construction projects of the year, according to Engineering-News Record, is a building in Albany, NY.

M+W Americas won best project in higher education/research for building a next-generation computer chip research center at the Albany Nanocollege.

The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering's $365 million NanoFab Xtension building (NFX for short) is the first of its kind for chip manufacturing on larger platforms, called wafers.

With larger wafers comes larger machines and equipment. The building was designed around the size and weight of the tools. The facility also requires added electric, gases and water compared to other chip plants.
