Albany - Attorney; Assistant VP/Associate VP/Vice President for Policy and Regulatory Affairs
Description of Duties:
Research Foundation for SUNY at SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) is seeking applicants for two or more attorney positions at the rank of Assistant VP, Associate VP and Vice President levels.
Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Support RF activity/sponsored funding research and development where areas of responsibility include acting as counsel for RF sponsored funding to include advising its executive management team on sponsored funding RF legal issues including but are not limited to: RF litigation, contracts, intellectual property, intellectual property licensing, corporate compliance, and other corporate matters. Negotiate, draft and provide legal advice on agreements and other documents required to facilitate RF sponsored funding activities; participation in sponsored funding strategic matters, planning and initiatives; assessment and recommendations on various compliance and policy matters; management of the Office of Technology Innovation and Commercialization;. Ethics, compliance and risk management; employee relations; work with external counsels on specific projects financial, securities, litigation, invention disclosure, patent review and application and patent prosecution. Other reasonable duties as assigned.
J.D. degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND admission to the New York State Bar. Approximately 1-10 years of experience in the practice of law in a law firm and/or in-house and with transactional matters is required. Candidates must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations. This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.
The candidate will be exposed to several areas of legal practice and therefore, ability to demonstrate experience in as many of the following areas will be desirable: commercial transactions, intellectual property protection and/or transfer, industrial research, federal statutory/regulatory, employment and export control.
