Position Title: Albany - Facility Inventory Technician
Employment is with the Research Foundation for SUNY, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

Description of Duties:

Assist in maintaining inventory stock for the Facilities Operations Group ensuring an adequate supply of materials and parts to complete their tasks.
Assist in the inventory and management of stock at various locations throughout site including management of stock location changes and reduction of unnecessary stock to conserve space.

Assist in maintenance of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) database information including stock lead times, minimum reorder points, vendor and/or manufacturer information, tool inventory, etc. Research and resolve inventory issues and discrepancies. Assist in creating SERF's (Supply/Equipment Requisition Form) for the purchase of equipment and supplies.

Assist in developing and implementing inventory procedures to be used by staff. Assist in implementation of CMMS upgrades and train staff on enhanced features. Assist in updating of CMMS with new equipment and stock information to accommodate SUNY Polytechnic Institute's expansion. Maintain good customer relations with Vendors of inventory suppliers.

Assist with monitoring and maintaining service contracts and purchase orders for essential vendor support on critical systems. Prompts the start of the renewal process, gathers appropriate documentation and submits paperwork for PO renewal.

Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years experience in inventory control of a large educational, medical or production facility. The ability to work from heights using ladders, lifting and carrying 50 lbs., use of PPE (personal protective equipment), experience in operation of material handling equipment (pallet jack, fork lift, etc.). Excellent written and oral communication skills and proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management/inventory programs. This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:
An Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field from a College or University accredited by the USDOE or an internationally recognized accrediting organization and Five (5) years experience in inventory control of a large educational, medical or production facility.

  • Shift hours: 7:30am-4:30pm.
  • Opportunity for overtime
