Albany - G450C CMP Engineer
The SUNY Polytechnic Institute is seeking applicants for the position of CMP Engineer to work in its semiconductor development facilities. This position is responsible for equipment assessment, operations, and applications development for 450mm CMP equipment.
Description of Duties:
The Global 450 Consortium CMP Engineer duties will include, but not be limited to: hands-on operation of all chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) equipment, mentoring and training the technician staff, writing / updating operating procedures and specifications, internal and external customer applications support, and coordination of new equipment evaluation and qualification. This position will be expected to handle all aspects of CMP tool ownership. The successful applicant must be able to interface effectively with fab operations, process maintenance, and semiconductor engineering professionals from client companies. This individual should be able to build, monitor, and improve recipes that are used to qualify 450mm CMP process equipment and evaluate them versus specification. An applicant must use effective troubleshooting skills to solve process problems.
The candidate is expected to contribute to the characterization, evaluation, and control of advanced 450mm equipment and processes; to understand, develop, and refine CMP techniques for each industry-relevant CMP application; and to interact with the metrology and integration teams to contribute to wafer-flow module builds. A good understanding of FEOL and BEOL integration is a plus. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, exhibit solid leadership ability, be familiar with SPC/DOE methodologies, and be willing to execute a variety of tasks on short notice. Good program management and customer interface skills are essential. Knowledge of MS Office, DOE, and yield/defectivity analysis software are strongly recommended. Other Reasonable duties.
B.S. degree in Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 2-5 years experience working in the semiconductor industry as a CMP Process Engineer supporting advanced CMOS fabrication.
or M.S. degree in Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 1-2 years experience working in the semiconductor industry as a CMP Process Engineer supporting advanced CMOS fabrication.
or Ph.D in Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 0-1 years experience working in the semiconductor industry as a CMP Process Engineer supporting advanced CMOS fabrication.
A deep understanding of the semiconductor process/equipment industry and how equipment is evaluated versus process specifications are both prerequisites. A working knowledge of equipment and process interactions is critical.
This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicate clearly to management is expected. CNSE is a multi-client, consortium environment, and the successful individual must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment is a must. Candidates must address in their applications their ability to work with culturally diverse populations. This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.
