Position Title: Albany - Postdoctoral Associate-High K Metal Gate
Employment is with the Research Foundation for SUNY, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that administers sponsored program activity for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

Description of Duties:


The SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) is seeking a post-doctoral Research Associate who will work in a collaborative research program between TEL USA and Professor Diebold’s Research group. As TEL develops next generation high k dielectric films and the metal gate materials, this position will provide the metrology research and development efforts necessary for characterizing these new materials. Methods such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Ultra-Violet Photoelectron Spectroscopy, ellipsometry, ion backscattering (e.g., RBS), X-Ray Reflectivity, X-Ray Diffraction and texture analysis will all be used. Examples of the type of analysis include band offset measurements and XPS depth profiling. The successful candidate will work with (mentor) graduate students and TEL research scientists in a collaborative work environment. Publication is an essential part of this research project. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Material Sciences/Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field from a college or university accredited by the USDOE or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. Ph.D. must have been awarded within three years of appointment to this position.

The candidate should have a working knowledge of XPS. Other methods such as ellipsometry, ion backscattering (e.g., RBS), X-Ray Reflectivity, X-Ray Diffraction and texture analysis are all available. This research group has experience using all these methods.
